Oh my God Franchesca!!!!!! This is freaking GREAT! How in the world did you do that???!! I was having such a lousy night and that put a smile on my face. Your the greatest!
    Sis

i'm sorry to hear you were having a lousy night!!
i just filmed each part separately and then composited them together in
after effects. it was a bitch and took forever but hopefully oprah will
appreciate my hard work and at least play my video on the show if not choose
    me as a finalist. eeeep!

Honestly, you have a great voice but this song doesn't fit it well. Also, the video gets tedious after thirty seconds when the novelty of you as three people wears off.

Your videos are usually great though. This one just happens to be a bit 'meh'.
  • chescaleigh · 2 months ago
sorry you think that, but you're entitled to your own opinion.
  • chescaleigh · 2 months ago
the oprah staff is going to look through thousands upon thousands of videos.
mine is different, shows talent and shows extra effort and creativity.
something i'm sure most of the other videos won't have. also, i picked an
upbeat fun song that most people know, whereas most of the other submissions
did ballards or random country songs. i also spent over 8 hours filming and
editing this by myself. so while it might be tedius to you, to someone who
doesn't know me or anything about my videos, i think this is a great
showcase of many of my talents.

That dress looks great on you. Kewl video.

You need to develop a thicker skin if you are serious about becoming an entertainer. I wasn't trolling but giving an honest opinion. I love most of your videos but this one was boring and your voice wasn't at your best and the left 'you' wasn't even synced right.

But life is easier if you just listen to the compliments eh?
  • chescaleigh · 2 months ago
As miss badu would say, "I'm an artist and I'm sensative about my shit"

You're right. I do need to develop a thicker skin. It's a struggle,
and something I work on daily. But, with that being said, I take all
comments w a grain of salt but I pride myself on replying to everyone.
Hope u understand that and don't see me differently as a result of my
    response. Thx.

I don't think you're trolling. And you're entitled to your opinion.
Believe me, I'm not crushed. I just felt the need to respond. You're
right, my voice wasn't at it's best, I'm not an amzing singer, I know
that. But I had fun making this video and I'm proud of the result. I'm
sorry if u think I'm getting defensive. I promise that isn't my
    intention. I appreciate your honesty.

    1) You look hott in that little purple number. your curves are great
    2) I have to express my appreciation for your editing skills, not just in this video but on your youtube page in general. I took a video and editing class last semester and that shit can take a long time, especially to create something that's actually good.
    3) I agree with tsgreenie about developing a thicker skin. I have no doubt that you will be a star, but I don't want to be watching you on E! true hollywood story one day, about how you fell apart from all the criticism. plus, franchesca you know they say once the haters come out that means you've really made it ;)

chanel, i can't thank you enough for always offering such kind words of
    encouragement. i really appreciate it.

editing this video was a nightmare. in all, it probably took around 10
hours. maybe more. i really need to start keeping track of that... while i'm
proud of it, i can see all of it's imperfections and wish i had more time
and better equipment to produce better work. but considering my shoe string
budget, it's not that bad. i actually just bought a new green screen and
lighting kit in ebay, so i'm hoping my videos will get better as a result.

and you're right. i know i need to develop a thicker skin. in this instance
i'm not so much hurt by the feedback, but i need to learn to let that stuff
roll off and not entertain every negative comment. in reality i appreciate
constructive criticism. but often times i fool myself into believing that if
i respond that i'm going to change someone's mind by offering my side.
anyhoo, thanks again for the support

oprah's gonna think you're a set of triplets!
  • chescaleigh · 2 months ago
haa! well the contest rules say that there can't be any additional people in
the video. so i made sure to clarify in my application that i'm the only
person in the video and that i used special effects to give the appearance
of 3 singers instead of one. i'm hoping they'll appreciate my creative
efforts and give me some points :)

I just want to make clear that I think you are amazingly talented and your videos are always top notch. The editing and outfit are terrific. I guess I was just disappointed that the video was a bit monotonous after the first minute.

But you're right and it will stand out from 95% of the rest. Hopefully I'm wrong and you'll win with this. Fingers crossed.
  • chescaleigh · 2 months ago
well thank you. i really appreciate that. i'm willing to admit my flaws, and
i'm always working to improve myself and get better. believe me, i can point
out a dozen things that are wrong w this video along w all of my videos. i'm
a perfectionist at heart and often times more critical of myself than anyone
else. and maybe that's why your initial comment kinda got to me, because i
agree with some of your criticisms! the song is very monotonous and i didn't
have the time or patience to more with it (the deadline is today and i spent
all yesterday editing it) thankfully the contest limits the entries to 2
minutes. otherwise you'd really want to kill yourself. ha! i don't think
i'll ever be able to listen to that song again after hearing it a million
    times yesterday.

anyway, i really do appreciate your feedback and i hope there aren't any
hard feelings. i'm sorry if my response came off as defensive. thanks for
    rooting for me.

Frannie, don't be hard on yourself. Think of this, sensitive people become great actors, painters, musicians, artists. They need to feel things, to know themselves and their emotional life. You are a sensitive person and non feeling individuals are NOT artists. Its impossible. Artists are those beings that have full deep emotion and thats where their inspiration comes from. It is a great possibility that you will never dull your feelings or have the bad ones "roll" off you. And thats a good thing. All you can do is feel them, transfer it to art, and then kiss the art sweetly and put it out into the world. Meryl Streep is a sensitive being, Heath Ledger was and even though lots can't stand her, Beyonce an incredible business woman and creative is one too. I've heard all of them talk about their extreme sensitivity. Your video is the bomb sis. All of us artists know how hard it is and how dedicated you were when you made it. You are not Speilberg at this moment. But if you choose, you could become the best at film making. But even Speilberg has a huge production team around him, you did this yourself, and you get an A for effort and execution. It made me feel good, and I'm sure Oprah will see that. You gotta stand out in this business. One last thing, always remember there is going to be someone out there that doesn't like you. Who the heck knows why? Some believe that about 2000 years ago there was a dude that got killed just because he talked about loving eveyone. Crazy huh?

Have I told you lately that I love you?
Thanks for helping me put things in perspective sis. U always know
    exactly what to say

great video. good luck ; )

btw: I too am an artist and I too am sensitive about my shit.

thanks. glad to know i'm not the only one :)
